Aren't you forgetting something?

April 3, 2018

In Luke 17 Jesus heals 10 lepers, but only one comes back to say thank you. Let's not be the kind of people who take the blessings of God for granted. We have much to be thankful for as we look back over this past Easter weekend. Before we move to what's next, we should pause for a moment and express gratitude for what Christ is doing in our church.  From this past weekend, here’s what I’m thankful for

  1. I'm thankful for the Lord manifesting his presence in our Good Friday service. From the opening song, Wondrous Mystery, to our taking communion together, there was a sense that God was present and his people had come to worship. This was one of my favorite services at EBC in the last 7 years. I praise the Lord for the unity of our members and the visitors who joined us for worship.

  2. I thank the Lord for our outreach egg hunt on Saturday. There was great camaraderie among all our volunteers. The Lord gave a smoothness to the day.  Our members made visiting families feel welcomed. Members of all ages were serving food, singing and sharing the gospel. Praise the Lord, we even saw a family come to church on Sunday as a direct result of coming to the egg hunt on Saturday. I give God glory for helping us in all facets of this day. Can you believe it, kids hopped up on sugar still sat still to listen to the gospel presentation. If that’s not a work of God I don’t know what is!

  3. I praise the Lord for our Easter Sunday. Many of our members were serving faithfully through the brunch, security, and greeting. The choir and musicians led us through the gospel in song and hearts were stirred. God brought unbelievers to hear the truth, and His Spirit provided liberty for the preaching of the gospel. We came to bring Him worship and He blessed us with unity, grace and power.

I hope you will find time this week to pause and praise the Lord for this past weekend. Thank him for the blessings you saw and the ones that you didn’t see. Rest assured, God has done his work in the hearts of people and in time we shall see the fruit.

What are you thankful for from this Easter weekend?
